Local Resources

The following information is aimed at helping people in our Morgantown Jewish community locate and make use of nearby resources.

Rabbi David Feder is our spiritual leader, guide and teacher. Rabbi Feder's e-mail address is ravdfeder@adelphia.net.

Tree of Life phone number: 304-292-7029

Tree of Life is located at the south end of High Street, Morgantown's main business street. Go south on High Street and cross the bridge, pass three intersections, and the synagogue is in the middle of the block on your right (one block past the fire department). If you have found the main WVU campus and High Street, we are at the other end (about a mile). There is no parking lot.

Kosher food buying. Joan Addicks has agreed to coordinate bulk Kosher food buying. Please contact her if you are interested.

Tree of Life t-shirts and JNF Tree Certificates. Frances Ness has t-shirts and other clothing with the Tree of Life logo. Frances is also the contact person for Jewish National Fund Tree certificates, which go to improve the land of Israel, and which make a fine gift for life events.

The Tree of Life House Officer, Ed Gerson, is responsible for our synagogue building and the items inside it. You can even call him if there is a problem at the synagogue (this has never happened).

Our Tree of Life Newsletter is published every three months by Alex Lubman.

To discuss the web site, contact Elsa Nadler.

We have a small Judaica Shop at Tree of Life, on the main floor. It is frequently open on Sunday morning, during the hours of the Religious School.

To purchase a tree to plant in Israel through the Jewish National Fund (JNF) Israel Tree Certificates program, contact Frances Ness at 599-0343.

Another Judaica Shop is Pinskers in Squirrel Hill (the Jewish section of Pittsburgh, PA). They also run a mail-order business at 1-800-JUDAISM. They are a quick source for books, ritual, and gift items, but they may need a reminder about an order. Mention our congregation and we may get more serious attention.

There is a web page of Jewish Resources in Pittsburgh called Pittsburgh Jewish Resources.

You will find some Kosher and Kosher for Pesach prepared foods at the Kroger Supermarket on Patteson Drive and also at Giant Eagle on Greenbag Road, near the Morgantown Mall.

Here is a brief discussion of possibilities for Brit Milah (religious circumcision) for boys born in Morgantown or nearby.

Our Board President, Ed Gerson, may be able to help you if resources here appear to be inappropriate.

The UAHC can give you guidance about Reform Judaism and UAHC religious and educational resources.
